Intro

A 501(c)(3) promoting Sri Lankan culture since 2003.

Sri Lanka Foundation educates on Sri Lanka and citizen achievements in the U.S. and worldwide. Long relationship with DG Studio — branding, website, and marketing materials since ~2008. Marketing Director Keshini Wijegoonerathna has cited community recognition and quality of materials.

Problem

Trust signal for diaspora — and a real digital home.

Needed a prestigious brand that signaled credibility to Sri Lankans and Sri Lankan-Americans while reaching broader demographics. Non-technical audience meant UX had to stay simple. The foundation needed a primary digital home for news, events, galleries, directories, and philanthropy — plus ticket sales and guest management for events.

Diagnosis

Underused story. Rebuild from scratch. Mobile critical.

Brand story underused philanthropic history (homes after the 2004 tsunami) and patriotic symbols — crest opportunity. Website needed rebuild from sitemap through wireframe to WordPress + custom plugins, not a skin. Mobile access was critical for diaspora news and forms. Social, email, and offline print had to feed the site.

Solution

Crest identity. Custom ticketing. Content → traffic loop.

ID: custom logo / crest (lion + patriotic colors), visual identity, typography, branded assets. Web: UX research, sitemap, wireframes, WP CMS, custom plugins; events + approval; business directory; custom ticketing with seat maps and scannable codes; mobile-friendly forms. Hype: SEO, social, email, news, offline print; Sri Lanka Day micro-site; Learn Sinhalese campaign; approved brochures.

Outcome

Mobile share locked. Social content moved people to the site.

Mobile users reached 43.49% of traffic after the mobile-friendly rebuild. Original social content brought more than 32,411 individuals to the website. Crest and print system in market. Claim-backed digits — not ROAS — on the board below.
